Education System

I came across this very interesting video clip which is an artistic animation embedded in words by Sir. Ken Robinson that describes about the differences in the education system we currently have today. It talks about how global education needs to be revamped and meet current technological requirements and how there should be an easier adaptation / smooth transition between college life and work. According to the video clip, it talks about teaching students and kids about what happens in the past, mistakes, and how those can be avoided in the future. But when we are facing an uncertain and unpredictable future, it is now time to change the way education is taught. It is based on “intellectual cultural enlightenment” and how there has been assumptions. The education model is still on the past where it is based on industrialization and having standardization of testing system which does not quite test the child or young adult’s true skills, talents or values. They are instead proposing divergent thinking which is an essential capacity of creativity. This is a way for people to start thinking outside the box and beyond what they are told to do so that it encourages creativity, representing the importance of the person’s specific interest. For example, during studying for tests where there are some books where the answer is usually at the back – this would be regarded as cheating in school. However, outside school, certain college institutions or even at a workplace, it is called collaboration. This is a new research method which expands critical thinking and knowledge.

F.C Barcelona

Earlier last week, we discussed about a potential partnership between FC Barcelona and a new start up company who were keen to have apps on the iPhones. It was expensive to set it up, so in order to save resources and money, the start up would link with FC barcelona so that the fans can also find out more information about the new start up company’s mission, values and goals. This is good way of online marketing and a way for the company to promote its products or services.

FC Barcelona is a well-recognized football clubs in the world and is best known for having one of the amazing soccer players in the world. It is looking to globalize the business and linking up with possibilities of working with a new start-up. As we showed in the presentation slide that these exhibition games are a way of them acquiring sponsorship and raising awareness for fans. Main goal is to increase the fan base and attract awarness especially children as young as 5 years of age.

Online shopping

It is fascinating to observe the amount of consumers particularly teenagers and young adults are spending the majority of their time on the internet either playing games online, surfing through various websites and it is amazing to discover that millions of information is being processed in our minds. When you compare the amount of processed information to the days where technology, computers, and software were absent. People were intrigued and excited to read titles of hard-copied books which are now then used as an e-copy which is then made exactly how it is when reading the book. Imagine a time without much home entertainment including laptops, TV, smartphones of course? I always wonder how people actually make use of their time back then. Socializing and interacting with others, reading books, perform manual labor for farming purposes. It’s amazing to see how we should be grateful for the emergence of technological improvements.

I would like to provide some pros and cons of online shopping as opposed to a retail store: PROS

1) It saves people’s time – if they already have a product in mind and know what to purchase, they can shop with a few clicks and proceed with a purchase.

2) It also allows them to compare prices online. They would be able to see for the best deal, and there are some search engines that have been specially made for price comparisons which will often calculate the price of an item including shipping charges making it to a total of an actual cost of an item.

3) It saves the amount of fuel needed to go up and down to a retail store and avoids the need for consumption of fuel or car.

4) Online shopping also offer a larger inventory and greater flexibility and availability of products and can check whether they are in stock or not at a period of time.

5) Online consumers have the opportunity to shop any time and any place they wish to surf through the websites according to their convenience.

CONS:

1) Additional shipping costs including sea, freight, land transportation methods which the consumers would have to burden. The additional shipping costs usually make the overall cost of the total purchase especially larger and therefore, consumers looking to purchase heavier items such as TV, furniture, and any bulky items would be reluctant to look online where they can spend a day at a physical retail store to have a vast selection of items.

2) Online shoppers do not have the chance to feel, touch, and try on the items which is also a crucial factor that plays a role in the buyer’s mind. Unless if they buyer isn’t too picky and knows their specific sizes, then would be able to purchase items with relative ease and try it at home. It would allow the buyers at the store to inspect items and certify an assessment of its quality.

3) it requires patience as it may take a few days for the items to arrive at home where compared to a physical retail shopping you can have items straightaway on hand.

4) No relationships with the salespeople

5) limited or non-existent support.

Therefore, overall it really depends on the consumer’s preferences and whether he or she would need to find the time to spend carefully to make a purchase online and consider its benefits and drawbacks.

Learning and overview – week 3

Another fascinating week as we discussed the importance of online consumer behavior and how consumers think and act based on online and web marketing. With the use of media, it has changed the way consumers shop online. Companies have used media to make their respective websites attractive which makes it easier to scope through for a consumer. We spoke about various communities involved and the amount of time consumers spend online whether it be relationships, transaction, fantasy or interest communities.

After watching an interesting ad on Dove and Axe Effect which were played during our last class, I realized web advertising and digital marketing has changed consumer’s perception of the product or service. For example, in the Dove ad, I was amazed to see the amount of work that completely photoshopped the image of the young lady on the ad. In Axe Effect, they have made in such a way that is sexually appealing which targets a specific consumer. It was interesting to note that these ads have an opportunity of distorting reality.

Websites from various companies across the world ave changed dramatically over the past decade and they have made it simpler, easier for consumers to navigate through, explore the website in order to find out what else is in store for them. They find it curious to explore around and that causes an exciting, positive effect on the consumer in terms of expanding creativity and being innovative.

We also learned about digital, search and experience products online which is a new way of consumers finding out information about the product by also having a virtual experience.

Apple iAds

I came across an interesting link on youtube. It explains in context about the importance of iAds by Apple. They’re talking about risks and compromises it takes for companies to advertise digitally in order to avoid unnecessary spending to contain their marketing budget. So, the iAds provide an excellent way for businesses to advertise digitally using simple concepts to consider the amount of time people actually spend on mobile devices and are on social media. Almost everything is being converted digitally. Apple offers its products to be innovative and creative in today’s time of technological improvements.
